That’s right it’s today.  I can’t imagine what we would do without you.  Once I graduated from Creighton Prep all boys high school, I decided I’d devote the rest of my life to women, style and everything good in this world, instead of stinky smelly men.  Ok perhaps I’m over simplifying and generalizing a bit here but just go with it cuz it’s in the spirit of this special day.  Suffice it to say I love women.  I love working with them and on them.  You know, their hair and stuff.  I really do.  Oh sure I’ve had plenty friends accuse me of having a less than masculine job.  I simply remind them that they are the ones that chose to work around a bunch of dudes all day, not me.  Nope, I’d choose women over guys any day.  🙂    My mom’s a woman.  My sisters are women.  My daughter’s a woman.  The women in my life are all women.  What’s not to love?

Do I understand women?  Oh hell no.  I don’t claim to be the Woman Whisperer, but I do get a pretty all access pass to into what a lot of women talk and think about.  The more I learn, the more I realize… there ain’t no damn way I’m ever gonna understand them.  But hey I’m a guy and that’s my job.  I’m guessing you wouldn’t have it any other way, I think.

Sure there are days around here that I have to get involved with issues that leave me curled up in the fetal position in my office with a blow dryer in my mouth.  But that’s what I signed up for and wouldn’t trade it for the world.  In fact I love it.  And I’m not just talking bout the pretty smelling soft and sweet ladies.  Yes, those but also the bad-ass hard hitting kick ass ones too.  Can I just say I’ve heard things in the back room here that would make a bishop kick out a stained glass window.  Many women blow me away with their ability to over achieve and multi task.  And there are those so brilliant they make me think I was raised as a chimp.  But I can’t get enough.  FYI there is some truth to the chimp thing but that’s a whole other blog.

Am I over simplifying the complexity that is woman?  Am I being offensive in a thousand ways I don’t even realize?  Listen, I said I was a guy.  I cop to it.   You gave me life for god’s sake.  And yes, you’ve sucked the life right out of me at times.  That’s not funny (nuns and puppies, nuns and puppies).

But damn if I don’t love having a front row seat and back stage pass to a whole lot of amazing and interesting people we call women.
And for that,  I thank you.
